Hello CLAUDIA,
This morning, I had a sudden memory of being in the classroom at this time of year, observing children carefully rolling up their work rugs, returning materials to their places, and, especially, small groups of children engaged in animated discussions about upcoming trips, their culminating projects, and latest discoveries. I was reminded of what would come in the final weeks of school: reflections, closures, and even saying goodbyes. I considered how important the Montessori “work” cycle, so deeply embedded in our day-to-day practice, is also mirrored in how we orchestrate the entire school year: orientation, order, ongoing community building, and completions, always with a realization that preparation is key: preparation of the physical environment, the emotional environment and our personal inner environment that helps to hold is all together.
I was reminded of how the Montessori method beautifully prepares children for transitions—not just in the classroom, but in life.
As we approach the end of the school year, transitions take center stage. We guide our students through closure, celebration, and preparation for what’s next. But how do we ensure these transitions are thoughtful and meaningful? How do we prepare both the children and ourselves for what comes next?
This is exactly what we’ll be discussing in April’s Monthly Conversation.
Change is a natural part of the Montessori cycle, but transitions—whether between lessons, classrooms, or school years—require intention and preparation.
Join us as we explore ways to support children through these transitions with grace and consistency. We’ll discuss strategies for maintaining a sense of community, helping children reflect on their growth, and preparing for a fresh start with renewed purpose.

I invite you to bring your reflections, questions, and insights. Let’s prepare for this transition together, ensuring we close this year with intention and step into the next with clarity and inspiration.
As we approach the end of the year, offering children space for reflection helps them integrate their learning and experiences. Consider inviting them to ponder:
What is something you feel proud of this year?
What challenges have helped you grow?
What are you most curious to explore next year?
This Montessori-inspired approach encourages self-awareness, intrinsic motivation, and a sense of ownership over their learning journey.
Warm regards,
Claudia Montessori Consultant, Mentor, Author, and Educator
